Thanks cherryblossom8, I really appreciate the thought and energy you've put into replying.

 

I don't think he's doing very well at the moment, and I think it might be beyond me for now.

 

I'm resolved to simply trust in society, and that whoever he comes across (outreach workers, police, housing shelters, etc) treat him with respect, fairness and kindness.
